Kendrick
Forest Products is a second-generation, family owned
logging, sawmill, dry kiln, and cabinet operation. In
1983, Tim Kendrick bought the mill that his father once
owned. Through the years he and his wife, Rhonda, modernized
their sawmill operation and have brought it to the forefront
of the industry.
We currently own 1,300 acres of timberland and also
buy standing timber within 100 miles of the sawmill.
We buy approximately 50% of our logs from independent
contractors. Our two logging crews harvest
standing timber from private landowners. Kendrick Forest
Products procures nearly 10.5 million board feet of
logs per year.
In
1988 and 1997, we installed American Wood Dryer kilns,
which increased the kiln-dried production of lumber.
Today we dry over 4 million board feet of lumber annually
and manufacture 9.3 million board feet of hardwood lumber
annually.
In 2000, we began planning a 5 year $5 million expansion
which started in 2001 with the addition of a 6 foot McDonough
Line Bar Resaw (pictured below) and a 3000 square foot
building addition. In 2002, another 9000 square feet
was added as well as a 7 foot McDonough Headrig with
stereo scan. In October of 2002, a TMT Optimizing Edger
with Inovec scanner was added. In 2004, a 6000
square foot truck shop and fabrication center as well
as 3600 square foot of office space was added. In June
of 2005, a Co-Generation System was installed to run our dry
kiln and produce electricity for some of our facility. Lastly in May of 2006, a 6000 square foot building
was erected which houses a Nicholson 36 inch Ring-debarker.
In 2001, Kendrick Forrest Products purchased and relocated a cabinet company
to Edgewood, Iowa. Currently Forever
Cabinets by Kendrick has a showroom
in Dyersville, Iowa featuring their cabinets and in
Edgewood, Iowa at their main office. In August, Kendrick
Forest Products will be opening
Elite Home Cabinets & Décor, a showroom in Cedar
Rapids featuring Forever
Cabinets by Kendrick & Wellborn Cabinets.

At Kendrick Forest Products, no part of the log is
wasted. We take the bark and excess wood and process
it into mulch and sawdust. Eighty percent of the sawdust
is used to fuel the Co-Generation System.
To ensure quality we generally try to ship within 24
hours of sawing or drying lumber.
