Dryline at KFP Soon To Be Reality
The old cabinet shop has begun its transformation into the new “Dryline”. The Dryline will be the place where we will be taking all kiln dried lumber off of sticks either to plane or tight pile rough lumber.
We have purchased the equipment required for the line including a package deck, tilt hoist, stick collector, conveyors and green chain. With this new line we will have the ability to process material much more efficiently. Also, we can operate both lines; putting lumber up on sticks and taking lumber off sticks at the same time when staffing allows.
The demolition has begun to make way for the line. The garage door near the old CNC will be moved east a few feet and then the equipment will be reinstalled. Thanks to all involved in making the Dryline a reality.
Kendrick Forest Products and Forever Cabinets by Kendrick would like to announce the purchase of the 36,000 sq ft building in the Industrial Park in Edgewood (formerly CVG building).
The building will house three businesses “Forever Cabinets by Kendrick”, “Kendrick home”, and “WoodPix”. All owned and operated by Tim & Rhonda Kendrick.
Renovations will be made immediately to add updated lighting, industrial power, dust collection, and a few other minor changes. The plan is to move to the building in the first quarter of 2017, after completion of the renovation.
“Forever Cabinets by Kendrick” makes custom kitchen cabinets for the home and offers a full line of products for other rooms in the home. This move will allow us to immediately double our production and grow our business into other woodworking areas as well. Plans are to add a lighting and rug center as well as new showrooms.
“Kendrick home” will begin production of wood wall art and will begin marketing nationwide to brick and mortar stores through sales reps around the country. We currently have located representation in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and Michigan. We will be looking for reps in the states of Florida, North and South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This product will only be available to stores and will not be available direct to the consumer, however we may test market product here in Edgewood and from our Dyersville store “Just For You”. We are also meeting with online sales outlets like Zulily, Hayneedle, Amazon, and Wayfair.
“WoodPix” will begin the production of custom giclee on wood. Giclee is the art of printing art and pictures on a variety of mediums including wood, canvas and burlap. Our niche will be wood, however, we will be offering custom imprinting on a variety of products including wood wine boxes, golf balls, banners, signs, plaques, leather, ornaments, t-shirts, jackets, hats, and many other items. These items will be sold directly to the public and through our online sales system at WoodPix.com. Our website will be up and running sometime in the 1st quarter of 2017.
It is our intention to promote from within, however we will be hiring additional staff for replacement of the promoted positions as well as other cabinet positions for this growth. There will also be positions in the plant for the construction of “Kendrick home” and “WoodPix” items. Staff additions will also be made for management, sales, design, office, and pack and ship. It is estimated that there will be a need initially for 12 additional staff.
